Glasgow International Airport (25miles) is the nearest airport to Drymen and is approximately 30 minutes by car. Alternatively, you can take the airport shuttle bus into Glasgow (journey time approx 25 mins), and then take a bus to Drymen.

Information on bus travel to Drymen & Loch Lomond, can be found by visiting First Group - which offers connections from all over the United Kingdom, including all ferry terminals and airports.
Citylink - coaches operate bus services to Glasgow, and you can then take a bus out to Drymen.

 

By Car:

If you are traveling by car, we are pleased to recommend the follwoing routes. You can plan your journey by using Multimap as a guide.

 

From:

 

From Glasgow City Centre (22 miles)
Follow signposts to Aberfoyle (A81) along Great Western Road until Anniesland Cross, turning right onto the Switchback. At Canniesburn Toll roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A809 (signposted Bearsden Cross & Drymen), continue through Bearsden Cross, after 1000m the A809 to Drymen branches to the right, go straight through the next roundabout, Drymen is signposted from then onwards.

 

From Glasgow Airport (25 miles)
Take the M8 towards Greenock, follow signposts for Erskine Bridge. After crossing the bridge take the A82 to Dumbarton & Loch Lomond. Close to reaching Loch Lomond follow the signs to Balloch, taking you onto the A811, continue through Balloch heading for Stirling & Drymen it is well signposted after this point.

 

From Stirling (21 miles)
Follow signposts for Loch Lomond and A811, remain on this road and after approximately 15 miles, Drymen is well signposted.

 

From Edinburgh Airport & Rosyth Ferry Terminal (60 miles)
On leaving Edinburgh, take the M9 towards Stirling, take exit 10 following the tourist route signs to Loch Lomond, this takes you onto the A811, remain on this road and after approximately 15 miles, Drymen is well signposted.

 

From the South
Follow signposts for The North, Scotland, M74 then the M8 to Glasgow, leave the M8 at junction 17 and turn right following signposts to Aberfoyle (A81) along Great Western Road until Anniesland Cross, turning right onto the Switchback. From the North
If approaching Drymen from the North West, follow signposts for Glasgow & Loch Lomond, passing down the west side of Loch Lomond, turn left after the loch and enter Balloch, taking you onto the A811, continue through Balloch heading for Stirling & Drymen it is well signposted after this point.

 

From the North East
If approaching Drymen from the North East, follow signposts for Stirling & Loch Lomond and A811, after leaving Stirling, remain on the A811 and after approximately 15 miles, Drymen is well signposted.

By Train:

There is no direct train access to Drymen, the nearest train stations are Milngavie (16 miles) or Balloch (11 miles).


GNER and Virgin Rail both operate train services throughout the United Kingdon, to and from Scotland. From Glasgow, First Scotrail operates services to Milngavie and to other destinations around the country. From Milngavie it is then a 30 minute bus journey to Drymen.
